If you've ever wanted to hear what I sound like, and you don't mind conversation about whiskey, feel free to tune into your local public radio station and catch Travel with Rick Steves. We discuss my book, Edinburgh, NASCAR, and many other whiskey related anecdotes.

It's Rick Steves and me! If you were just talking about yourself, you would say "me", so it's the same when you bring Rick into the picture. ; )

I listened to the program today on my way to the first cross-country ski of the year, replete with a whiskey hot toddy in my thermos! The most fascinating part to me was the importance of diluting the whiskey... who knew?! Thank you, I loved it!

I also want to thank you! I've been drinking Scotch for over 35 years -- on the rocks, please. But what a difference a little water makes! (Scotch) whiskey became my drink of choice when I worked in a nightclub in Kyoto in 1973 -- we had to drink with the customers, so it was either drink beer (which I couldn't stand) or Japanese whiskey (no sake in a Western style club). But I had to be reasonably sober at the end of the evening -- in order to ride my bicycle home several miles over cobblestone streets. I found out I couldn't keep track if I ordered it with water, as it came very diluted, so I ordered it straight - or on the rocks.
In any case, I do still enjoy Japanese whiskey when I can get it -- Kate, if you do a second edition, I recommend exploring the distilleries of Japan. I'd love to hear your opinion of them. The Japanese sent out envoys to carefully learn the methods of making Scotch from the Scots...and they do a good job (from my somewhat faded memories).
