Chocolate Covered Bacon

Look what Dan Savage posted over at Slog:

As one commenter wrote - Move over eggs, bacon just got a new best friend... fudge!

Sadly, Mr. Savage doesn't state where such bacon can be procured.

Thought you might be interested in these maple bacon lolli pops that I saw on this here interweb: http://lollyphile.com/maple-bacon.php

I'm not entirely convinced, but I do like a bit of crispy bacon and maple syrup on big fat pancakes so it might just work!

Let me know if you try it out!

I just read the Karagitz blog Adam mentioned, noting both the Mexican mole and c.c.fatback comments.
To really get nutritionally obscene, I'm thinking large chunks of chicharones (deep fried pig skin) filled with crunchy peanut butter and then coated with Nestlés Abuelita (cinnamon chocolate).
To die for. Literally.

Here's another post about the bacon; it's from Marini's in Santa Cruz: http://slog.thestranger.com/2008/04/breakfast_of_champions

I'm really health conscious, so I wouldn't touch such bacon even with a ten foot pole. Personally, if I had to make something similar to fudge covered bacon, I would at least use carob (from Holy Food Imports, www.holyfoodimports.com) in place of chocolate, so it would be somewhat healthier.

I love chocolate and I love bacon, and I think this could be an interesting combination.
I wonder if you could choose between milk chocolate and dark chocolate. White chocolate could be an even more interesting combination.
