This post is designed to be your handy-dandy reference guide to all of the 2005 Food Blog Awards. Below the jump are listed every category that are to be voted upon by you, the readers of the blogs, as well as all of the sites who made it though the initial nomination process and the judging rounds.
To vote for your sites, please visit the poll booth for this year.
But I want to point out that this post is more than a reference guide. It is a starting point. There are several sites listed below, which I promise you've never heard of before. Trust me, these sites are good. Blindly vote for your favorite if you must, but don't be afraid to discover a new site. All of these people deserve to have a wider audience.
And while we're at it, don't forget to visit the sponsors of each category. They've been kind enough to volunteer prizes. They deserve traffic too.
Now, prepare to waste a few good hours reviewing these sites!
In the immortal words of U2, "Hello Hello! Ola!". Welcome to the voting round of the 2005 Food Blog Awards. The judges have finished with their voting and judging, and after these are the final nominees that we were able to shake from the tree.
Let me tell you, this was more difficult than anticipated, for two reasons:
This, mixed in with the holiday season, has left me with a bit of egg on my face, as we had to delay the announcement of nominees by two weeks. For that, I apologize.
Let me quickly explain how the final list was determined. Soon after the nominations were complete, I sent an Excel Spreadsheet to all the judges, with a list of all the nominees for each category. I asked the judges to determine their choice for the top 5 sites in each category, and then send the list back to me.
From there, I compiled their choices into one large list, per category. Due to similar tastes in some categories, and vast differences in others, the lists were as small as 12 sites in one category, to over 20 sites in another. I then returned the lists to them, and had them rank them from most favorite to least favorite. I then averaged out the results, and the five lowest scores in each category made it the the voting round.
This is where you, the reader come in. The Polls will remain open until 12 midnight PST on January 18th. We will then review the database to check for any ballot stuffing, and then announce the winners at some point during the following week. My hope is to announce the winners on January 23rd, but I'm a tad skittish at setting dates at the moment, due to my earlier faux pas.
We will be announcing the winners of the polls on WellFed.net, in order to promote the Well Fed site, as well as to move these awards to a more professional arena.
Thank you so much for your patience, and for your readership. I'm quite sure that the owners and writers of the blogs listed here would say the same thing.
Without Further delay, the voting begins....NOW!

Also, please leave a comment on this post if you use a shared internet connection and have problems voting, or if a poll says "Thank you for voting" and you haven't yet voted.

Feel free to nominate your favorite food blog sites for the categories below the jump.
It's back! You've spent precious time working on your blog. You've traveled 175 miles in order to find that one special ingredient for a recipe. You've eaten food at less than reputable institutions. You've been hammered by requests from Hefty-Trash bags to pimp their plastic plates.
We think you need to get some kudos for all of your hard work.
It's time for the 2nd annual Food Blog Awards! Here's the chance to say "Hey, my food blog is worthy of attention!" Conversely, it's also the chance to say "Hey! My favorite food blog is also worthy of attention!"
Over the month of December, we're going to ensure that people recognize the quality writing and photography that go on in our community.
Here's how it's going to work - Between now and Friday, December 16th, we're accepting nominations in several categories, that are listed below. After the 16th, a group of judges will review the nominations, and submit five sites for your approval. From Dec 21st through December 31st, the polls will be open for people to vote.
We're excited about these awards. Last year, the awards and some of the winners were featured in dozens of newspapers and magazines world-wide.
We will announce the judges in a post later this week, as well as explain their duties, in order to maintain a fair amount of transparency.
