Last Meals - Lunch

07/27/07, by Kate Hopkins Email 2881 views • Categories: Food

Okay, we've done our last breakfasts...what would you have for your last lunch?

I'm torn for this one, as there are several options I'd want to take, none of them in the same city.

So assuming I have enough money, this is how I'd work it out -

  • a Capicola and Cheese Sandwich from Primanti Bros. Served at their original location in Pittsburghs Strip District.
  • Homemade Pirogies, with extra butter and onions.
  • a Tall glass of Pyramid's Hefe Weisen, my latest beer of choice.
  • And if I had room, a slice of Neopolitan Style Pizza

Short, sweet and to the point.

A nice light, low-carb lunch. It sounds perfect, though I might have to switch out the wheat beer for something hoppy. My sandwich would be a mozzarella and sun-dried tomato at Joe's Dairy in NYC, or a Turkey Terrific from Provisions on Nantucket.

My blog is doing a post about food bloggers' last supper! If you had to pick between your last breakfasts or last lunches, and what I presume to soon-be-posted last dinners, which meal would you choose as your last?

Thanks for your response and post! I find it interesting to get to know people for what they really desire, when health doesn't matter anymore.

Homemade, very chunky smoked chicken salad made with juicy D'Artagnan Smoked Chicken Breast, extra mayo, celery seeds, and fresh cilantro piled on warmed French bread with crispy duck bacon. Add a cold glass of Savignon Blanc to make it a very happy pre-death experience.

OooOooOo, Southern Fried Chicken, cornbread (no cookie ingredients), cream gravy, greens, corn and green beans with butter, bacon with a squeeze of fresh lemon. And a homemade biscuit too. For beverage, cool refreshing water with a side of rootbeer float.

Brie topped with sauteed mushrooms, and italian bread.

Monte Cristo sandwich with baked potato soup, and spinach salad with hot bacon dressing.

Warm tortilla chips dusted with cinnamon and sugar, topped with baked apples, drizzled with caramel sauce, then vanilla ice cream on the side.

Dang, my tummy hurts just thinking about eating all of that LOL, I'd have to eat small portions 8^)

It would have to be Ceasar salad with flash fried oysters followed by some crawfish etoufée then a nice hunk of bourbon-pecan bread pudding.

A BLT (or two) with avocado (thick-cut smoky bacon, perfect garden-ripened tomato, homemade mayo on homemade pan de mie toasted on the inside only), homemade potato chips, those teeny little super-sweet strawberries with whipped cream, a snickerdoodle or two, lots and lots of champagne.

I would skip lunch and have my last supper at The Flying Pizza in Leeds where I would insist on Fileto di Manzo alla contadina.
