Poll: What gets you Going in the Morning?

06/10/07, by Tara C Email 2385 views • Categories: Food

The latest poll on the front page of Accidental Hedonist asks about your morning routine.

Do you crave the sugar rush of soft drinks most mornings? Do you rise and shine with anticipation of breakfast tea? Does your preferred java drink have so many twists and turns that baristas squeak and disappear when you walk in a coffee shop?

What do you enjoy most mornings, or how do you occasionally treat yourself in the early hours?

I just need some time in the morning. Sunlight, fresh air and physical exercise help too...

It's black coffee for me, but only AFTER I enjoy a morning shave. I use badger brush and shaving soap, and a safety razor with double-edged blade. This morning ritual is (for me) a great way to start the day---a time of meditation, fragrances, pleasant sensations, and a perfectly smooth face as the result. THEN I'm ready for a cup of coffee.

Eat breakfast at 6:00 a.m., then 12 oz Starbucks bold of the day at 10:00

I voted juice, but I like to have it with something else as well. Juice is really just my kickstart (simple carbs, after all).

A swallow of water to chase my morning pills (nothing serious -- echinacea and probiotics) followed by either a small bowl of oatmeal with flax seed and cinnamon (Mon., Wed.) or a small salad with hummus or 1 TBSP balsalmic vinegar (Tue., Thu., Fri., Sat., Sun). Then nothing for an hour. Then 1.5L of water until lunch.

Though, I'm really enjoying this carob-powder unsweetened soy milk I just brewed up. Then again, it's roughly 11 at night here.

Carbs, preferably with sugar in them. And if there is anyway to sneak chocolate into it, so much the better.

Proper english breakfast tea, made with BOILING water, stewed for 5 mins and with milk and sugar. I have two cups at the weekend.

I say, "Pass the cereal, please." Gotta keep the mornings easy.
