I'd like to nominate Barbara of Tigers and Strawberries for her post about eating meat:

http://tigerberries.blogspot.com/2005/07/meat-comes-from-animals-deal-with-it.html

Every time she comments on our site, I know it will be a well-reasoned insightful piece of wisdom. Her site is full of these gems, but this one is one of the most thought- (and comment-) provoking.

I'm sorry - but put every other great 2005 blog post on the food blog planet together in one whopping big post and it still wouldn't come anywhere near beating this. How could it not win?

I wasn't gonna bother nominating this year, but I won't stand for Autumn Omakase not getting any recognition. And please don't tell me blog download pdfs don't count.

Since others are nominating serieseseseseses, I'll nominate one of my own, my Diet for Charity that I did early this year:

http://www.extramsg.com/modules.php?name=News&new_topic=6

I hit 240 lbs and decided to lose some weight. To encourage myself and make it about something more than my fat ass, I got sponsors who pledged a certain dollar amount per pound that I lost. I lost 20 lbs in one month and earned about $1000 for the Oregon Food Bank.

Pretty much all of the posts on this site are great, but I picked this one because it actually contains a review of two different nights--the preview night and the actual opening night of the restaurant (as far as I could tell, this was the first site to review this restaurant). I also think the photos were great quality and show the restaurant very well, and the review was very complete--giving detailed descriptions of not just the food but also the atmosphere and service at the place (not to mention detailed price info!).

A couple of Domestic Goddess entries:

Toast-Sticks... you just can't discuss the year's best posts without this post, and the "recipe" with it is sheer simple magic.

My Love Affair... as concise and on-point a synopsis of why we love to cook as I have read in blogland...

I don't really care if either of these get nominated. I just would really recommend people read them.
