I assume we can only vote once as this is not Chicago in the 60's, but I think Beau's blog is a must read, not to belittle others efforts. I wish I could vote for top 5!

Good gracious! How are we supposed to pick one?!
I would say that Tom at http://www. fermentation.typepad.com does it for me. I was never as interested in wine or blogging until I started reading his blog. There are many others I'd nominate, but since I think I can only nominate one, his is my choice.

Tom Wark's "Fermentations" and Jon Bonné's "amuse bouche" (http://amuse-bouche.net/) are the two blogs I read semi-religiously. They both write with passion for the subject but also an ability to educate people about what they're commenting upon. Thor Iverson's "oenoLogic" (http://users.rcn.com/tiverson/) is also quite well done. Joe Dressner (http://www.joedressner.com/) can be painfully serious at times as he grapples with issues concerning the three tier distribution system and the difficulties inherent in being an artisanal importer, but ultimately his site is as entertaining as it is informational.

None of these folks ever seem to run out of things to say, and that's something admirable in a blog (although maybe not so much so in real life). When all is said and done, "Fermentations" is the best all-around, regular commentary on all aspects of the wine world and deserves whatever trophies or awards can be bestowed upon the site.

I feel a bit like I'm not really saying anything new (because I'm not), but Tom and Beau both deserve the award this year.

I also want to nominate Cam over at http://www.camwheeler.com/wine/

And thanks Beau...WBW is fun...but I fear it won't get the niche-y little LENNDEVOURS the hardware!

Comment from: Fabian Cobb [Visitor] · http://blogauvin.finewinepress.com
I thought if I nominated our own new blog - http://blogauvin.finewinepress.com with its associated podcast - People in Wine. Why? Because it is open to all good writers on wine and we have some: Hervé Bizeul describing the trials and tribulations of being a wine-maker, with a bit of philosophising on the side, recently Brian Croser, John Kapon's wild tastings and a few infrequent guests including myself when I have the time. Our associated podcast People in Wine is, I hope, something new with guests who include Rex Pickett, Carole Bouquet, Ron Jackson, Rod Phillips, Michel Bettane, Remi Krug, Rob McNeil, Natalie Fryar, Michael Broadbent, Armin Diel and many more. Our latest is a 'Special' for the time of year.

But in case we are disqualified for putting a tick against our own name - then Tom's Fermentations has an energy which marks it apart and Alder's Vinography because he is always awake! And, OK, because I enjoy their candour and... their ardour.

Good luck to all!
Fabian
