Dear Reporters working on the Mad Cow Story,

Dear Reporters working on the "Mad Cow" Story,

Although the "Discovery of Mad Cow" headlines show some semblence of research on your part, please let me suggest a few more story lines that should be examined.

  • Why is only .375 of 1% of the cattle population being tested for BSE?
  • Why didn't the USDA perform the Western Blot test on the cow in question back last November?
  • How much pressure did the Beef and Cattle lobbies exert on the USDA to prevent the use of the Western Blot?

I offer these lines of questioning to you at no charge.

Thank you for your future diligence,

-Kate

Lol and we as journalist appreciate greatly your input. (seriously, we do, if more people would stick to constructive criticism, recommendations, and civil suggestions about what they would like to see in the news, we would be much more likely to give weigth to the floods of critique of our profession and our competency within it.)

I enjoy your journal, hope you don't mind but I am thinking of linking to your journal and the Post previous to this one in one of my blog entries later today or tomorrow.

keep up the good work

Why, why, why? Could it be to protect our mega-industrial cattle industry at the expense of consumers? Nahhhhhhhh.

Of course it's ridiculous to not test every cow before it becomes our food. They do that in Europe.

I'm still waiting for the higher ups to have to stand in cow feces all day like 99% of US cows do. Every day is party for them.
