2004 Food Blog Award Ballot: Voting starts NOW!

12/21/04, by Kate Hopkins Email 3125 views • Categories: 2004 Food Blog Awards, Nominations

Look over there to the right. No.. your other right. On the right hand side of this screen you should see the 2004 Food Blog Award Ballot. It should allow you to vote for your favorite food blogs. So, as of now, voting has started.

Your votes will be tabulated and then held in a secret location somewhere deep in the bowels of Mt. Rainier. Voting will be closed at midnight, Dec 31st, PST.

If you have any difficulties in voting, or have any general questions, please contact me at Kate AT accidentalhedonist DOT com or leave a comment below.

And many, many thanks to Tara, who did all of the coding to get the poll software up and running. It was my idea, but Tara was the one who made this a reality.

Great to see the round up!
Is it possible to have each of the nominees listed be an active link to their site- for newbies like me?

take care!

In a perfect world McAuliflower, yes. As things were I was too worried about making the poll reasonably secure and functional to devote much time to that feature. Look for it in future endeavors.

Great job, Kate! I'm impressed with all the time and work you put into this endeavor. Take a nap; you deserve it. Perhaps preceeded by a nice cup of egg nog?

YUM.

Regarding making the nominee listings links. I understand that it may be more effort than is possible right now. Can I suggest a perhaps lower effort solution? Just add a link on every ballot page to the post which contains the nominations, and have it open in a new window.

It really is difficult to vote for the best blog post when you can't even visit the ones you are voting on very easily.

That having been said, the fact that you pulles this all together so quickly and so well deserves a barrel full of praise.

*nod*  I plan to add links at the bottom of each poll (since the links can't be inserted into the php code due to syntax) when I've a spare moment... perhaps tonight.

And thanks AY.

Is it possible to link to the specific ballot in which one is nominated (in my case the wine blog competition)? Thanks!

PS: Great job!

While this was a worthy effort which I very much appreciate, I question whether the results will mean very much. In order to vote for the one category I know anything about, it seems that I'm forced to vote for other categories which I know *nothing* about. I think many (most?) people are in a similar boat to myself, and would probably just select one they've heard of, or even pick one at random.

This site looks Plone based - perhaps in future years, an existing polling plugin such as PlonePolPoll
could be considered?

Cheers.
