how's about a blog link for "delicious days" since they're nominated for 4 (!) of your marvellous awards! I think their site is excellent in terms of presentation and ease of reading; even though I'm an absolute beginner when it comes to cooking. And don't forget they're based in Munich (at least according to the 'about' section) & therefore most likely German!!!:) My expericence of German cuisine is a big lump of meat and always the same gravy; these guys are clearly a magnificent exception to the rule and at an added disadvantage by writing in English rather than their (probably) native German.....

yours sincerely, kasc from Calgary.

one of my laws - seldom disproved - if a restaurant advertises the view - avoid it, or just have a drink and eat elsewhere..

I am in the process of becoming a Certified Clinical Nutritionist and have been researching HFCS and the affects on the hormone Leptine. Leptine is a protein hormone that plays a key role in regulating energy intake and energy expenditure, including the regulation of appetite and metabolism. Leptin acts as a nutrition traffic cop of sorts. It helps regulate storage of body fat and helps increase your metabolism when needed to keep your weight in check. Research is showing a direct cooralation with HFCS and the increase in obesity and diabetes (especially in children). Because of the extra processing to make HFCS the body does not release insulin like it should when sugar is ingested so this extra sugar floats around in the blood causing all kinds of problems (as mentioned). Leptin is not being released as it should to let your body know to STOP the sugar intake so people are drink sodas by the gallon and eating foods with HFCS and they are fatter than ever before.
Manufacturers like HFCS because it is cheaper, sweeter, and mixes better that good old fashion sugar. My advise is to avoid HFCS and let Manufacturers know we don't want this subtance in our bodies or the bodies of our children. Why take the chance. Just look around next time you're in public and notice how fat America is getting. Thanks for listening.

Now that the Trans Fats are gone from many grocery store items and restaurants are starting to eliminate them from thier menu items, I think it's time to really push for the elimination of HFCS from so many food offerings. I found it in my Yoplait yogurt last night and I plan on returning 9 of the 10 cartons to the supermarket ASAP. I was even more shocked to see "the BestLife" symbol on the Yoplait Light Yogurt carton - doesn't Bob Greene know better! Even I know that HFCS is most likely the cause of so much obesity in this country.

Hi, I just found your site on google. I was doing a search for healthy and frugal recipes that didn't contain in the ingredients, a can of cream of crap soup. haha
I absolutely love your comparison list on whole foods. That is just what my husband needed to see. I had been for months showing him receipts from both Kroger and Whole foods, and his reply would be ya, but that's just one item, or that's just two. I told him when we get in the store he adds things.. supplements, high end meats, etc. He has finally seen the light! Thank you thank you thank you! Love your site, love the joke about ding dongs LOL
Glad to meet ya here!

The 3rd Annual Seattle Cheese Festival May 18 - 20, 2007

The Seattle Cheese Festival presents more than 250 cheeses from local and international producers along the cobblestone street of Pike Place Market. The festival is the first of its kind on the West Coast with artisanal cheese at center stage. The three-day event offers the general public the opportunity to taste, celebrate and learn more about artisanal cheese through the Cheese Concourse, informative seminars and panels, cooking demonstrations, a wine garden and a children’s “cheese maze” scavenger hunt. Local restaurants and chefs bring the Seattle Cheese Festival to the table for their customers by providing “Cheese Fest Best” cheese dishes during the month of the festival at celebrated restaurants throughout the Seattle area. For more information and a complete listing of seminars, classes and more, please visit www.seattlecheesefestival.com.

What a pretty site you have...packed with great information. Would love to know how everyone here feels about smoothies as possible meal replacements/tasty ways to get your fruit requirements every day. I like the Robeks smoothies the best, and just tried the lighter, all-natural version this week...Was really good...
So do we have any smoothie lovers out there?

I love all the rules, and would like to suggest one of my own:

Fruitcake Rule

Anyone who gives fruitcake as a gift MUST discern in advance whether the person really likes fruitcake. Otherwise, it is the culinary equivalent of a hate crime!

Please visit my site at: www.foodczar.blogspot.com for great restaurant and lifestyle reviews.

Glad I found your site! Keep on truckin', as those of us Older Than Dirt are fond of saying!!!

There appears to be no link attached to your About button, so I can't read about what you are all about...
